How do we do it?

Chemical peels involve using a chemical solution that is applied to the skin to remove the top layers, revealing smoother, more radiant skin underneath. It is used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin and scars.  Depending on the level of peel that is performed, it may involve multiple sessions, and can be combined with other cosmetic procedures and products to elevate skin rejuvenation.  A consultation with one of our estheticians can help determine the type of peel that will be helpful along with other products to maintain skin health.

We offer three different types of chemical peels at Aphrodite’s Secret:

  • PCA Chemical Peel: Exfoliates dead skin cells and helps healthy skin cells rise to the surface. These treatments allow deeper layers of fresh and untouched skin to be revealed. The result of monthly treatments can even skin tone, clear acne, improve the appearance of aging skin and make dull complexions glow.
  • Aphrodite’s Secret ProG Peel: The appearance of large pores are dramatically reduced by ridding the skin of pore clogging dirt and dead skin cells. Clients leave with glowing, healthy skin with no down time.
  • Aphrodite’s Secret Enzyme Peel: Great for clients with sensitive skin. This peel uses fruit enzymes to gently slough off dead skin cells to reveal a more radiant complexion. Can be used as an add on after receiving the ProG peel to calm and soothe the skin or as a standalone enzyme peel.

What should be expected during a chemical peel session?

The peels that we use at Aprhodite’s Secret are best used when there has been a consultation prior to application. Depending on the type of skin you have, how sensitive it is, and what your skin goals are, our estheticians will help you with determining the best kind of peel for you.

However, one thing to keep in mind is that a chemical peel is not a one-time fix for all skin issues. More often than not, a peel will only do so much to help with clearing up skin, and clients see more results when using products continuously that promote continued healing. That’s why it is strongly recommended by our team that a consultation is scheduled prior to any peel to make sure it truly is the best fit for you and your skin.

Also, if you have recently traveled or are planning to travel at any time immediately following your appointment, this can affect the results of your peel. Different climates can cause the skin to change drastically, so it is important that you receive your peel well in advance of any traveling to avoid any possible issues.

FAQ

Q: Why should I choose you for this service or any service?

A: We take pride in making sure our clients get the best service possible, and that includes in how we determine the best peel procedure for them. Some clients may not need a peel and will need something else to combat skin issues. We take the time and the effort to educate our clients on what we believe will give them the best results instead of spending money on procedures and services that are not necessary.

Q: How is your cost different from other salons or esthetician offices?

A: We charge for the usage of high quality products that will provide the best results, as well as the time and care that our estheticians put into providing the service to the client. As opposed to just performing the service and leaving it at that, our estheticians take extra time to educate our clients on future appointments, aftercare, and what else can be done to further the results of the procedure.

Q: How should I prepare for this service?

A: Please come in with a clean face with no makeup.  Do not use any tanning beds for two weeks before your scheduled peel and try to avoid sun exposure for 10 days before the peel. Do not use any acid-based products when you come in for your appointment.

Q: Who should avoid this service?

A: If you are pregnant or nursing, please consult your doctor before having a peel performed.  It is best to schedule a skin consultation before having a peel to make sure that it is the best option for you.

Q: How long will the service take?

A: Depending on the type of peel you will be receiving, the appointment can last anywhere from 30 minutes-1 hour.

Q: How often will I need to come in to get it done again?

A: This will be determined by our estheticians, especially after your first peel. Depending on how well your skin reacts to the peel, we may schedule you for a treatment once a month, especially if during a consultation our estheticians believe it will be beneficial for you.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Pricing for peels start at $115 and depend on the type of peel that will be performed.

Aftercare

Our estheticians will walk you through the information on how to properly care for your skin after the peel, but these are the most important things to note:

  • First 2-7 days after treatment: stay as cool as possible; no steam or direct heat (hot showers, saunas, etc.); no swimming or anything that would require excessive sweating; no loofahs or other exfoliating methods; do not use a hair dryer near the face; no ice or ice water on the skin.
  • No makeup for the day following the treatment.
  • Moisturize at least twice a day.
  • No topical, over-the-counter medications, or AHA products for 7 days after the treatment.
  • Do not use acne medications for 5-7 days after the treatment.
  • No tanning beds for two weeks after the treatment.
  • Do not pick or pull on loosening or peeling skin.

We can also provide information on good products to use during the healing process to make sure that your skin heals properly following the treatment.
